Sublime Void is screening at the Adelaide Festival Centre 1-30 July 2026.

Sublime Void examines the sublimity of environmental decay through the lens of maritime landscapes. The work moves across three interwoven inquiries: slowness as a mechanism for experiencing the sublime; the relationship between the history of maritime art and environmental decay; and the visual experience of the sublime as it emerges through cycles of loss and crisis, remembrance and re-emergence, transformation and regeneration.

In Wilson's own words:

"My work explores the relationship between memory and place through miniatures, painting, and the moving image. The way I make video art is under the banner of very long-term projects that give time to develop, fail, re-evaluate, and complete. These have been The 51 Paintings Suite (2006–2024), Filmic Memorials (2005–2025), and others I work on concurrently. I like to make work that taps into memories, no matter if it's autobiographical or someone else's, to find a resonance within places and our sense of place - to find how the most meaningful experiences we interlink within can be explored through the moving image, on canvas, and in scale."
